La storia dell’Avis Veliterna

L’Avis Comunale di Velletri nasce il 10 gennaio del 1957 grazie alla volontà e l’impegno di un gruppo di giovani donatori veliterni. Da allora sono passati 50 lunghi anni, la costante crescita associativa attraverso l’informazione e promozione della donazione del sangue, ha permesso di raggiungere un numero sempre più elevato di donazioni/donatori, soprattutto nelle scuole, permettendo dal 2000 ad oggi l'iscrizione di oltre 500 studenti. Attualmente sono più di 2300 i donatori periodici che hanno permesso nel 2007 di raccogliere ben 3220 unità di sangue, grazie anche alla costituzione dei gruppi gruppi aziendali, tra i quali, ricordiamo l’ATAC, il Cotral, i Vigili Urbani, la Banca Popolare del Lazio, i Dipendenti Comunali, Guardia Parchi Regione Lazio, Alberto Canterani Nemi, Alessandro Monti, Pavona e le Scuole Medie Superiori. Nel 1996 si è costituito il primo gruppo donatori di una società sportiva, l’A.S. Pallavolo Velletri con oltre 70 soci donatori, tra atleti allenatori, dirigenti, quest’ultimi sono il frutto di una fattiva collaborazione, attraverso la quale sono state organizzate manifestazioni a favore dell’AVIS. Il logo dell’AVIS impresso sulla maglia da gioco degli atleti assume in tal senso il significato di diffusione di quella cultura ed invito alla donazione; in un periodo in cui troppo spesso lo sport è sinonimo di milioni di euro e risultati a tutti costi.

L'Atletica Amatori Velletri, non è stata da meno, costituendosi 3 anni fà, grazie alla volontà del suo presidente Antonio Lupi.
